In 2022, I had the pleasure of directing both the animated segments and the live-action moments for Headspace’s Member Stories. This was an exciting first for me because I never had directed live-action before. I loved it!

Armed with a team of BUCK designers, animators and camera crew, we told four documentary-style stories of real humans who used Headspace to overcome their personal stressors.

We assigned each story a color based on Headspace’s Brand Colors that also highlighted the theme of their story.

We exaggerated the way that the real members felt by using Headspace characters in equally challenging illustrations. Then our Headspace characters would overcome their hardships as a metaphor for the way the members faced their challenges in real life.

This GIF above is one of my favorite moments from all four videos. In this story, Patti is struggling with sleep after having a baby. She used Headspace to lull herself to sleep. But what I love about the GIF is the playful nature of the big circle and the little circle, just like mom and baby, coming together to make a moon.
